Artwork 2The 1997 Riven: The Sequel to Myst remade from the ground up. The remake features a fully traversable 3D space in both Standard First-Person or in VR.
Cyan self-published the remake and has never disclosed sales figures or revenue — no unit number, no milestone announcement could be found across Cyan's own press releases, Game Informer, Time Extension, UploadVR or Wikipedia. What is on the record: the game launched at $34.99 on PC, Mac and Meta Quest (10% launch discount on PC/Mac, 11% Quest pre-order discount) and discounts regularly since. Steam's all-time peak was 1,659 concurrent players in June 2024. Third-party modelled estimates put owners in the 100,000-200,000 band, but those are inferred and are not a basis for a revenue figure. Critically it did well — Metacritic 86, OpenCritic 87%. Context worth keeping separate from the game's performance: Cyan laid off twelve staff, roughly half the team, in March 2025 while seeking financing for its next project, with a further round in July 2025; neither announcement attributes the cuts to Riven, so no causal link should be drawn.
