Warner Bros. never disclosed a development budget or a revenue figure. Press and retail reporting recorded it as the best-selling game in the United States in October 2017, with US sales running about 20% ahead of Shadow of Mordor, and the best-selling title of its release week in Australia, New Zealand and Japan — the Japanese launch alone was up 39% on its predecessor at roughly 23,000 copies. In the UK it placed second behind FIFA 18, though some reporting suggested UK launch sales trailed the first game despite heavier marketing. A third-party estimate of roughly 911,000 first-week retail units was found and is deliberately NOT used as a basis.
