Meet Manny Calavera, travel agent at the Department of Death. He sells luxury packages to souls on their four-year journey to eternal rest. But there's trouble in paradise. Help Manny untangle himself from a conspiracy that threatens his very salvation.
Widely described as a commercial failure despite winning game of the year awards. LucasArts said it "met domestic expectations and exceeded them worldwide" and the project reportedly turned profitable by 2000, but designer Dave Grossman said "it was pretty ambitious and expensive, and I don't think it made very much money back". Retail price was $35 at launch. Estimated gross ~$12M (500,000 units x ~$24 blended price against the $35 launch price); excludes discounts, retail margin and returns — not an official figure. The 1998 original is not sold on any storefront today; only Grim Fandango Remastered (2015) is available.
