No development budget has been published. The headline numbers Sports Interactive does publish are PLAYER counts, not unit sales, and the distinction matters: this was the first entry built around a subscription-first model spanning Game Pass, Apple Arcade, PS Plus and Netflix, so the totals include subscription access rather than discrete purchases. On that basis: 7 million players within 100 days of the November 2023 launch, rising to 19.09 million by September 2025, with 1.7 billion cumulative hours played, an average of 118.8 hours per player, 7.5 million players logging more than five hours, and 2 million people still playing in June 2025. Miles Jacobson says the five-year shift to subscriptions produced 'nine times more players' and '2.5 times the revenue' versus the previous model — relative multipliers, not absolute figures, and SEGA has never broken out an FM24 unit number. Steam concurrency peaked at 89,478 on 7 January 2024, notably two months after launch rather than at release, tracking the January transfer window. The reason those player numbers kept climbing for two years is that Football Manager 25 was cancelled in February 2025 after two delays — the first time since 2003 that Sports Interactive failed to ship an annual entry — which left FM24 as the current game until Football Manager 26 arrived in November 2025. Jacobson has said the cancellation 'cost a full year of revenue'. Time-to-beat was deliberately left empty: this is an open-ended management sim with no ending, and HowLongToBeat's figures for it are internally inconsistent, listing a longer 'main story' than 'main plus extra' on tiny sample sizes.
