Artwork 4DayZ is a hardcore open-world survival game with only one rule: stay alive, no matter what. How long can you survive a post-apocalyptic world? A land overrun with an infected "zombie" population, where you compete with other survivors for limited resources. Will you team up with strangers and stay strong together? Or play as a lone wolf to avoid betrayal? This is DayZ, this is your story.
Bohemia has never published a development budget for the standalone, and given the five-year Early Access and a mid-project engine migration, no meaningful figure exists in the public record. Sales, by contrast, are well documented through a series of official milestones: about 172,500 copies and roughly $5 million in the first 24 hours of Early Access in December 2013, over 400,000 within a week, 1 million by mid-January 2014, 3 million by January 2015, 4 million by November 2018 at the 1.0 push, and 5.8 million including DLC in Bohemia's 2019 year-end report, of which Livonia accounted for about 400,000. The most revealing number came from CEO Marek Spanel in November 2024, published during a review-bombing backlash over the price of the Frostline DLC: 8 million tracked Steam users had played an average of 188 hours each and spent an average of $30 gross, which he framed as 'less than 10 cents for an hour of live online gaming' against more than a decade of hosting and updates. Current pricing runs $49.99 standard, $59.99 Deluxe and $69.99 for the Cool Edition. The game's all-time Steam concurrency record is remarkably late: 78,000-plus simultaneous players on 15 October 2024, more than ten years after launch, alongside around 500,000 daily active users across all platforms. Time-to-beat is deliberately empty — this is a multiplayer-only survival sandbox with permadeath and no ending, and no reliable figure could be retrieved in any case.
